1973 Checker Marathon Rental Added in Iowa
Rent Muscle Cars has added a 1973 Checker Marathon to its network of picture vehicles through USA Movie Cars. The car sits in Spirit Lake, Iowa, and gives Iowa productions a distinctive 1970s sedan option without needing to source vehicles from farther away.
Spotlight on this 1973 Checker Marathon
This four-door sedan carries an original green exterior that matches the factory build sheet description. The black interior has been completely redone with new upholstery, while the vinyl roof remains the original 1973 piece and stays in solid condition. All chrome received fresh plating during a frame-off restoration completed roughly three years ago, and the car shows 28,000 actual miles.
The vehicle seats nine passengers and runs on a rebuilt motor paired with an automatic transmission. Its long-wheelbase sedan shape and tall greenhouse supply clear sight lines for cameras, and the preserved roofline and period trim give it a recognizable profile from the era. Crews working in Iowa can inspect the car locally before committing it to a shoot.
Rent Muscle Cars and the Iowa Picture Car Market
Rent Muscle Cars lists vehicles through the USA Movie Cars network so producers searching for Iowa picture car rental options reach local inventory quickly. The Spirit Lake, Iowa location places this Checker within reach of shoots across the state and reduces transport time for regional work. USA Movie Cars works with state picture-car sites such as Iowa Picture Cars to help productions find local picture vehicles without extra steps.
Iowa film car needs often center on authentic period pieces that match the Midwest landscape. This Checker adds a sedan that reads as everyday 1970s transportation rather than a specialty car, which helps location managers and prop masters fill background and character roles without custom fabrication. The network connection keeps the car visible to both in-state and traveling crews.
History of the 1973 Checker Marathon
Checker built the Marathon as a durable sedan aimed at taxi fleets and large-family use. The 1973 model year placed it in the middle of a decade when these cars still appeared on city streets and in small-town service across the country. The long body and simple lines remained largely unchanged for years, which is why the model reads instantly as a 1970s vehicle in period scenes.
This example left a Des Moines dealership new in 1973 and stayed in Iowa since purchase. The four-door sedan body style, automatic transmission, and gasoline engine follow the standard configuration for that model year. Its straightforward design and roomy cabin reflect the practical engineering that made Checkers a common sight in the Midwest during the 1970s.
Iowa Picture Car Rental Uses
Producers can use this Checker for any scene set in the 1970s that calls for a standard four-door sedan. The green paint and black interior supply neutral background texture that does not fight with wardrobe or set dressing. Its nine-passenger rating also allows it to carry multiple characters in one shot without additional vehicles.
The car works for establishing shots of small-town streets, character-driven driving scenes, and commercial spots that need period detail. Still photographers and music video crews can place it in parking lots or along roads to add depth without modern distractions. Event and branded content shoots gain a vintage prop that feels lived-in rather than staged.
