History of the 1972 Datsun 240Z Restomod

The 1972 Datsun 240Z belongs to the first generation of the Z-car line introduced in the late 1960s and early 1970s. During that period the model earned recognition as a sports car that combined balanced proportions with straightforward mechanical layout. Many examples from those years remain popular among enthusiasts who value the original body style and driving character.

Restomods built on this platform often incorporate elements from both Japanese and American performance traditions. The listing notes a blend of JDM and Detroit muscle influences through the choice of engine, transmission, exhaust, and body modifications such as the handmade flares and RX7-sourced components. This approach keeps the recognizable 1970s silhouette while updating the mechanical package for contemporary use.
